About me

Sandra was born in Leyton, London 1962, moving to Basildon, Essex in 1966. She attended Southend Tech College 1979-1982 to complete a course in illustration & printmaking. This included etching, monoprints, lino cuts, screenprinting & lithographs. She has an A-level &  E.A.R.A.C Diploma in illustration & printmaking.

Upon finishing her course she moved to Jersey, C.I. Her many trips abroad have influenced her style, including Hong Kong, Argentina, Mexico, USA, Canada, Turkey, India & Europe.

Sandra has played tenor saxophone & sung in many bands, music being another important influence in her artwork.

After teaching art & running community projects back in Essex, Sandra  moved to Bristol in 1987. She initially worked with elderly people with dementia, children, young people & adults with learning difficulties in a variety of settings. Then in 1996 she had her first solo(and successful) art exhibition. Sandra borrowed a friends flat in Clifton & over seventy people attended. She has since exhibited in numerous venues in Bristol, including:

Hope Centre, Hotwells
Chandos Road Cafe, Redland
The Downs Tearoom
Primrose Cafe, Clifton
